These improvisations came about at the New York Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Intensive in June 2016. I had heard from another participant that Deidre played amazing piano, and so we made a date for after lunch one day. The lyrics are entirely informed by the NVC retreat we were experiencing. Empathy and interdependence are both big themes, and it is a whirlwind of growth and care and insight. The song improvised at the talent show talks about the scariness of going home after a week in utopia.
